“…then shall ye have joy in the fruit of your labors.” - D&C 6:31

So, I was hoping to show you how ginormous my vegetable plants have got but it was too dark by the time I got outside last night to get some good pictures. So, I hesitantly turned on the flash on my camera and settled for some pictures of what’s growing on my plants.

First off, I seem to be WAY behind a lot of my fellow gardeners. I mean, it’s not ME that’s behind, it’s my plants. And I don’t know what I did wrong, or differently, this year but at least we’re finally getting there.

Here’s Cherry…

Isn’t that pretty?! I’ve already picked (and eaten) 2 cherry tomatoes. And that’s been it so far!

Here’s Shirley, the early girl…

That’s my first “real” ripe tomato. Well, it’s almost ripe, maybe one more day! I’m so excited! One day I came out and it was hiding underneath some leaves so I couldn’t see it and I thought for sure someone was trying to sabotage my efforts. But alas, I found it before I called the police. (Thank heavens, that would’ve been akward!)

And here’s Pump…

I have quite a few of these growing around. I believe it’s supposed to be a 7-10 lb. pumpkin, if I haven’t gotten my plants mixed up.

And Herbert is finally on his way…

If you remember, Herbert Sr. had to be replaced after his demise so Herbert Jr. had a little catching up to do. I’m way excited for those cucumbers, though.

And finally, Yuki…

I had a problem with some local snails thinking that they had rights to invade my zucchini plant but now that I’ve nicely, but firmly, informed them that I wouldn’t be sharing I finally have a zucchini growing that doesn’t already have some bites taken out of it!

Well, that’s all I have to share right now. How is your garden doing?

You need to sing to your plants. That's what makes them grow so well. And talk to them, too. They enjoy the company. Also, I've heard playing classical music to them does wonders. But I think singing would be best--can I come and watch? :D
