Hug-An-Engineer Week

This week is national engineer’s week. (And here you were celebrating President’s Day, right?!)

Well, don’t fret, I am here to increase your knowledge level on what could quite possibly be the most pointless fact you learn today!

So, what is the point? “The purpose of National Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make. It is also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills.” (To learn more, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Engineers_Week_(U.S.) that is, if you’re REALLY bored and have absolutely nothing else to do…)

What this means to you: Well, probably not much, really. Although, you could take a moment to hug an engineer. (FYI, I am now accepting long-distance hugs, for your convenience!)

What this means to me: In celebration of National Engineers Week, my boss is buying us all a pizza lunch on Wednesday. Sadly, I won’t be here to celebrate as he’s decided to send me to exotic (insert heavy sarcasm here) Cheyenne, Wyoming that day.

You don’t suppose he’s doing that just so he doesn’t have to buy me pizza, is he?

…cheapskate

(Don’t tell him I said that!)

I guess I better run. I need to go find someone to whom I can “emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills.” (Consider yourself emphasized. Wait, what?)

Engineers aren't typically good with communication. Or personal contact.

But I do my best.

Being an engineer is hard!
