I hardly dare say it because there is another storm heading in this weekend but I’m finally starting to feel like spring has arrived.
Yesterday was beautiful, no? So beautiful, in fact, that I decided to stroll through my backyard to survey the effort ahead of me. So I opened a small can of mandarin oranges (heavenly, are they not?), grabbed a fork, and headed outside.
At first, I was slightly hindered in opening the back door as it tends to get a little stuck after not being opened for 4+ months but I didn’t let that stop me.
My first thought after stepping on the patio… “There’s not too many weeds in the patio flowerbed yet!” Yay!
I headed out towards the grass, which was the topic of many blog posts last summer and had another thought… “Wait a second, that’s not right.”
Um, yeah, I guess I missed a few bulbs in what was previously a flower bed and is now a patch of grass striving to come in. My bad!... but still an easy fix, right?
Next, a quick look at the fruit trees as I’ve seen many other people’s trees in bloom recently. My cherry tree is in full bloom right now. Beautiful, eh?

The apple trees haven’t fully bloomed yet but they’re getting close. Hopefully this year we won’t be dealing with any blossom-freeze issues like the last couple of springs.
I then stepped over to survey the garden area where the pumpkins and tomatoes grew last year and, well, there are a few too many weeds there already but nothing a little round-up can’t cure! (I would DIE without round-up!)
I then headed back toward the patio thinking to myself, “I need a husband for hire” and then I thought, “Wait a second, my sister has a soon-to-be-husband, maybe I can hire him!” I was headed back inside to get my phone to see how much of a possibility that would be when I noticed one last thing that seemed out of place.
Last year when I planted pansies I had hopes that they would spread. I didn’t expect this, however.

Weeds in the flower beds and flowers in the cement cracks… Just my luck!
