Stick's Memorial Day Weekend

So, now that you've met stick (or if you haven't, here he is again... in the mud... get it? stick...in the mud!)

I met Stick on the short hike between String and Leigh lakes in Grand Teton National Park. Stick joined me and my family for the rest of the weekend and wanted to share some of his favorite pictures.

Stick in a lake:

Stick at a picnic:

Stick getting nervous:

Baby Great Horned Owls (no Stick):

Stick at the Bar J:

Stick in a boat (at Jenny Lake)

Stick at Hidden Falls:

Stick and a mama moose (or, just a mama moose):

...or two:

Stick and a bird:

Another moose:

A grizzly bear (too far off for Stick's little legs to carry him):

Stick's weekend ended up being very nerve-wracking for him. At one point he awoke in the middle of the night screaming "not the nest!" Now he is off to a nearly-as-nerve-wracking event:

Stick at a family reunion:

why do you think there were so many animals out this time?

Probably because most of their "summer" food is still covered in snow so they're hanging out at a lower elevation. And there still weren't many people around. I would guess the warmer temperatures and crowds are what push them away.

Too funny! BTW how did you get such a great picture of the first bear? My ideas: a) He must be dead and you're using him as a prop, b) You have a camera with a really good zoom lense or c) This picture was not taken by you - you're just borrowing it.
Hope things are well.

d) none of the above. The bear was literally about 20 feet away and dead asleep (or maybe 'a' is true and he really was dead) on a log. There was a park ranger there making sure everyone stayed right on the road. I do have a little bit of a zoom lens on my camera but it's just the generic one that came with it. :)
